What kind of ʻike Hawaiʻi are you ʻono for?
Want to hone your carving technique? Improve your ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi? Weave a cool papale niu? To extend our mission “to restore the reciprocal ea between the kānaka and ʻāina of Wahiawā by way of cultural revitalization,” we at Nā Kuene o Kuaʻikua will soon be offering educational cultural workshops right here in Wahiawā. Your response to this survey helps us make workshops more accessible to our kaiāulu by tailoring them to the needs and preferences of our friends and neighbors. Bonus: by taking the survey, you'll get early access to register when our first workshops are published.
In 2019, a grassroots hui of ʻohana from our community began caring for a kīpuka in the forest of Wahiawā Uka along a section of Kaukonahua Stream known as Kuaʻikua. They poured time and aloha into the lands they loved, removing thick invasive brush, re-establishing streamflows and terracing, and planting kalo, native plants, and canoe crops. As food grew in number, so did our community of volunteers. We invite all who love our lands to join the movement to restore ea and aloha ʻāina in our beloved Wahiawā community.
